GOLF BOOK REVIEWS
I have just read two new books which I would recommend to anyone who loves golf.
“All Carry” is a modern day golf fantasy by ESPN writer, Gene Wojciechowski about an 18 handicap golf broadcaster and father who teams up with a disgraced PGA Tour caddy. With the help of some magic golf clubs designed and built for Jack Nicholas, they make a run which takes them to Augusta and the Masters Golf Tournament. If you can suspend your disbelief you will enjoy the ride.
Published on March 31, 2026. I read this book as an ebook and it is available for sale in hardcover.
“A Course Called Home – Adventures of an Accidental Golf Course Owner” by Tom Coyne. A true story about how the author responded to a call for help from the Superintendent at the Sullivan County Golf & Country Club in the Catskill Mountains. The Semi Private Course was established in 1925. It was failing badly. All of the facilities were in terrible shape and the equipment was mostly broken. This was a last ditch effort to keep the Club open as they approached their 100th Anniversary in 2025. If this sounds familiar to you, you should definitely READ THIS BOOK. From the conditions of the Clubhouse, to the quirky 9 hole golf course, to the local members league you will see so many similarities to Cobleskill Golf & Country Club. This is a true story of the deterioration and potential demise of a community golf course in a small town in upstate New York. It is also an example of what can happen when owners and operators decide to commit to imaginative changes;people believe in making those changes and everyone works together. If you are a member of Cobleskill Golf & Country Club, this book will seem, oh so, familiar and may even provide hope for the future.
This book was published on May 5th 2026. I read it on my Kindle. It is also available in hardcover.
These book reviews and more will be posted on the Club’s website at
